Red is an apple,
Red is a rose
Red is a stop sign and
A funny clown’s nose.
Colour days at AIPS are celebrated to enjoy the vivacity of colours in our lives. So on 15th July 2022 we celebrated Red Day to introduce the colour RED to our learners and how this color has various meanings. The day began with our little learners coming in dressed in all shades of red looking all so bright and beautiful. The bright color took over all of the school and added yet another color to the day. The assembly began with a short prayer moment followed by a special morning talk drawing emphasis on the color red and its significance. We also sang a birthday song for Ms. Danica Machado our nursery home room facilitator whose birthday was on that day. After the assembly the learners moved to the class as the action song “color red” played in the background. The facilitators then showed them the actions to the song and explained the various objects in the video and the meaning of it. The learners inquisitively listened as they facilitators explained. Sr. Gloria our principal then came in with an intriguing idea, as she walked in she showed a red ribbon and how it flows in the air. Through this we also introduced the art form of ribbon dancing, our learners twirled around the red ribbon dancing to the beats of the action song. It was then time for the snack break, for which both the classes of Junior K.G. and Senior K.G. were combined as it was a celebration day. As they opened their snack boxes, they were filed with red food items like apples, pomegranates, watermelon, plums, tomatoes, cherries, etc. It was a sight so fulfilling and delicious. We then proceeded to celebrate our red day with pre-planned activities to engage the learners. First we displayed various objects of the color red like red bag, red chair, red bottle, red cone, red fruits, red bucket, red cardinal bird and a red velvet cake. It was then game time for which we first showed them red vermillion powder and let them touch and feel it, while explaining its significance in the Indian culture. We then mixed it with rose water to make it a paste. The game was to put a ‘bindi’ on a woman’s forehead while blindfolded. The learners absolutely enjoyed this fun game. As they posed with their red fingers the moment was captured to keep as memory. We awarded the winners of the game with the red velvet cake. As our concluding activity we made red tulips with origami paper and stuck it on a chart making a red tulip garden. The red day celebration was indeed full of learning and joy which also helped develop multiple skills of the learners.
