A day most awaited at AIPS, right from dreaming about AIPS to it finally coming to reality, the first day of school. All of us at AIPS were looking forward to meet our tiny tots. As we all welcomed them at the gate, some were excited, while the others a little nervous. With shiny new shoes, brand new bags, colorful outfits and sparkly inquisitive eyes our learners walked in as they waved at their parents. Grades Junior K.G. and Senior K.G. began at 08.30 a.m. and the Nursery at 09.00a.m. Our classes began with a short prayer moment thanking the almighty for this wonderful day full of blessings. Following that our facilitators assisted the learners to their classes. Ms. Shrutika Malhotra the home room facilitator of Senior K.G. introduced herself first and then with a talking stick activity asked all the learners to introduce themselves one by one, this activity engaged the learners and helped them open up. The Junior K.G. home room facilitator Ms. Anam Arkate too started the class by introduction, through this they were all encouraged to speak aloud. The nursery grade was a pleasant challenge, the little ones hesitant about the new space and reluctant to leave behind the parents were our main focus. As Ms. Danica Machado our home room facilitator of Nursery assured them all that the learners will be well looked after. At break time all our learners sat together as they shared their healthy snacks with one another with the enthusiasm to make new friends. Break time was followed by another fun class that was outdoor play, an event that is one of our main focus. Ms. Iman Khan, the sports facilitator engaged them in various different sport activities starting with warm up exercises followed by beginner friendly body movements. The learners thoroughly enjoyed this and participated with great delight. Our facilitators then did art and craft activity with them, the Junior grade did an ‘I am unique’ handprint with paint and the Senior made a crown with a cake piece that read, ‘My first day was a piece of cake’. The Nursery grade made smiley bands that were put on their wrists. Our learners were all engrossed in the activities and took their special creation home as a take-away. As the eventful day came to an end, we all at AIPS were overjoyed with the engagement of our learners. With a prayer moment we sent our learners home as their parents waited with great interest to know all about their first day at school.
